Post Traumatic Stress

Risk for suicide is 22 percent higher among Veterans when compared to U.S. non-Veteran adults. Studies show that trauma from exposure to suicide can contribute to PTSD. Veterans are more likely to develop PTSD as a result of exposure to suicide if they witness the suicide or if they are very connected with the person who dies. Adults who have had a concussion are three times more likely to commit suicide than the rest of the population.
